Perplexity is Incredible
The first LLM or AI you absolutely need to try is Perplexity.
Their company just raised capital and Jeff Bezos was one of the investors.
Interestingly, Jeff Bezos was also one of the original investors at Google.
Perplexity is going after Google’s core product: Search.
After trying it for yourself, you’ll easily see why this is likely the future of how we search.
Perplexity is so good that it’s like a search engine … but it is more of an answer engine.
Step 1: Go to Perplexity.ai
Step 2: Turn Copilot On
Step 3: Put in your request…
Step 4: Now you’ll see the magic of perplexity. The screenshot shows that it first tries to better understand the intent of the request. Then it found multiple sources and got a better understanding of the topic. Summarized all the info into a concise answer along with sources - and it provided the ability to ask follow up questions.
Here is why one would use Perplexity over ChatGPT?
When you need to cite your sources.
When you need accurate and up to date information.
When you truly want to understand a topic.

Click Download / Install / Open
Go to the Home Page (Home Icon) and easily download an LLM. I’d suggest starting with Mistral - it’s small, fast, and better than GPT 3.5.
Click Chat → Select Mistral → Chat (the Message Icon)
DONE - you now have a LLM on your computer that will work without the internet.
